The results
Offering donors a greater say in how their donations are used brings them closer to the impact that they can have. Is this what was behind the fact that the appeal raised £238,494 against a target of £160,000?
The exceptional response was driven in part by a considerably higher average donation that this campaign achieved, when compared to other appeals.
Looking forward
Perhaps the most exciting thing is the knowledge that WSPA now has about a large proportion of their donors. Over 70% opted for their donation to be used on ‘any programme’ meaning that the total amount of unrestricted income exceeded their income targets on its own.
WSPA has also been pro-active in feeding back to donors about the success of the appeal and how the income has been distributed to the programmes.
But what’s most valuable is the fact that 30% of donors chose one specific area – that means that WSPA know exactly which part of their work is most appealing for 30% of the people who responded. This is now used in building an ever more personal relationship with them.
