Blesma
The British Limbless Ex-Servicemen’s Association has supported those who’ve lost a limb in action, since the First World War. Their oldest member is 99 and their youngest 19.
Previous warm appeals had focused largely on the help BLESMA gives to World War Two veterans. Many supporters are veterans themselves so the thinking was that like give to like. BLESMA wanted to find out how supporters would respond to an appeal featuring a younger case study.
What's good about it?
This appeal tells the story of Andrew Stockton, who lost his arm in Afghanistan, through a powerful letter in his own words and a hard hitting visual device that shows him with and without his arm. BLESMA donors couldn’t wait to show their support for young soldiers experiencing what they had years ago. The appeal doubled its target, creating new opportunities for the future.
