Mars… taking care of the Earth

Sustainability has been part of Mars’ ethos for years. But there was no integrated strategy across the three UK business divisions nor was the good news communicated to stakeholders. We created a framework for the company’s sustainability activity, integrated it into business planning and developed a communications strategy to change the internal culture. Throughout, we demonstrated the business benefit of embracing sustainability.

What's good about it?

We only launched the campaign in May 2008. Follow up research will be conducted every six months to measure cultural changes, and annual reviews will assess both short-term effectiveness and progress towards a visionary 10 year target.

Since then the campaign has been extended to Mars Australia in 2009 and much of the strategy has been adopted throughout Mars Europe.
