Inspiration for fundraisers
Posted on: June 24th, 2009 by Kathy Allen
On 7th July The Good Agency are hosting ‘The Inspiration Show’ at the Institute of Fundraising Convention.
The Inspiration Show will bridge the gap between the end of the formal programme of workshops on the middle day of the convention and the hugely popular Grand Convention Party. Sponsored by The Good Agency, The Inspiration Show will bring together speakers from all over the world, and from many different walks of life, to share their inspirational stories of achievement and success.
Speakers at The Inspiration Show include Fran Balkwill, Professor of Cancer Biology at Barts; Alec Reed, founder of Reed Recruitment Group and philanthropy website www.thebiggive.co.uk; Ken Burnett, author, lecturer and consultant on fundraising, marketing and communications for non-profit organisations worldwide, and Alan Clayton, Director of Innovation at The Good Agency.
Adding a little bit extra in the way of inspiration are James Mong’ateko and Dennis Shayo who will be making the trip from Tanzania to inspire delegates with their story of how they have set up their own adventure company near Kilimanjaro. Their ultimate aim is to build their business through education, and a proportion of the proceeds are injected back into their local community through various projects and environmental initiatives.
Alan Clayton, Director of Innovation at The Good Agency says: “We all know that charities are suffering in the current economic climate, and The Inspiration Show will provide delegates with inspirational stories of success and achievement which, I hope, will motivate them to fundraise through the recession. The speakers have some incredible stories to tell, and we hope that many within the fundraising sector will come to listen.”
Kirsty Thomson, Head of Events at the Institute of Fundraising says “We are delighted to have The Good Agency on board as sponsors of both The Inspiration Show and the party which this year has a Roaring Twenties theme. Previous years have seen a lull in activity between the end of the day and the party in the evening, but this year delegates will get more from the convention.”
