Charities are looking for new ways to integrate channels and messages. Cash-strapped donors need new reasons to give. The result – time-critical, often restricted appeals that focus the organisation and its donors around a single, tangible result. Whether it’s building a clinic, saving a nursery from closure or digging a well, Big Appeals can give your teams and supporters a renewed sense of purpose and a big target to aim for.
Good Bites has returned this Summer and Big Appeals were first on our agenda. Annie Moreton, Head of Individual Giving at Save the Children, and Craig Linton, Head of Fundraising at RLSB, joined us to talk about how they made their Big Appeals work over breakfast last Thursday.
The session looked at the potential, the pitfalls and the practicalities of Big Appeals. We shared a little bit about our Big Dig with WaterAid, before hearing from two charities who have made Big Appeals work. And we mean really work. We talked about when they’re right and when they’re not. And looked at the potential for stretching Big Appeal messaging into legacy, regular giving and more. Here’s what our agenda looked like:
08:15 Breakfast and registration
08:30 Matthew Sherrington, Strategy Director, The Good Agency
08:45 Annie Moreton, Head of Indivdual Giving, Save the Children
09:15 Craig Linton, Head of Fundraising, RLSB
09:45 Open Q&A
