Accessibility Statement

The Good Agency is committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of technology or ability. We have worked hard to increase the accessibility and usability of our website and in doing so ensuring it adheres to many of the available standards and guidelines. As an ethical agency, we believe accessibility online for our users to be fundamental.

This website endeavours to conform to level Double-A of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities. Conformance with these guidelines will help make the web more user friendly for all people.

This site has been built using code compliant with W3C standards for XHTML and CSS. The site displays correctly in current browsers and using standards compliant XHTML/CSS code means any future browsers will also display it correctly.

Semantic markup

The coding of the site separates content from presentation using XHTML and CSS. This means that all information will be presented correctly even if your browser does not support style sheets. All code has been validated and conforms to the W3C standards.

Headings

Headings have been wrapped in the appropriate markup tags (EG - h1, h2, h3, h4). The hierarchy is as follows:

h1 - Is for the main title of each page.
h2 - Will be for any subsection.
h3, h4, h5, h6 - Will be all sub headings.

Navigation

There is a skip navigation link for this site. We have however, not included Accesskeys. This is because there have been many reports on them conflicting with assistive software shortcuts. Accessify.com explains further in The Trouble With Accesskeys

Links

We have made an effort to keep links descriptive enough to make sense out of context. In the event of this not being possible, like a read more link for a news article, the title of the post will link to the same place and be the descriptive link. We have also used titles where necessary to provide further information.

Links for The People section will open in a popup. This popup has been created using Javascript and will work as a normal anchor link for those who don’t have Javascript enabled.

Javascript and Flash

This site makes use of unobtrusive Javascript. That means that it will still function and display correctly with scripts turned off. The site uses short Flash animations in the header of each page. These have been designed to last no longer than 10 seconds, in accordance with WAI guideline 7.3
